Don't just attend events—help run them. Volunteer for non-profit boards or lead industry Special Interest Groups (Women in Tech, International Professionals). In many cultures, the "U.S. Dream" means sending money home. However, you must do this in a way that doesn't leave you broke in a high-cost country.

Instead of sending money whenever someone asks, set a fixed amount (like 5% or 10% of your paycheck). This makes your budget predictable.
