Once you get your H-1B or your Green Card, it is easy to become comfortable and stop growing. In the U.S. economy, if you aren't moving forward, you are actually moving backward because costs go up every year.

• Every 6 months, update your resume. If you haven't added a new skill, a new certification, or a new big project, you are stagnating.
• Stay in touch with friends at other companies. Go to one industry conference a year. This keeps you fresh so that if you ever need to move, you are ready to compete at the highest level.
