Idea Selection
Identify real problems
Selecting the right business idea is not about finding something cool or trendy. It is about finding a problem that is so painful that people will pay you to make it go away. For international founders, this is especially important because you have limited time and cannot afford to spend a year building something no one wants.
Most beginners start with a Solution (e.g., "I want to build an AI app for dogs"). Successful founders start with a problem.
- Look for Friction in your own life or your industry. A good problem is Frequent (happens every day) and Expensive (costs time or money).
- When you talk to potential customers, don't tell them your idea. Ask them about their life. If they talk for 20 minutes about how much they hate a specific task, you have found a real problem.
