You need a safe place to sleep tonight and for the coming weeks. Whether it's temporary (Airbnb, hotel) or longer-term (apartment), verify the neighborhood using CrimeGrade.org or NeighborhoodScout. Never wire money before seeing a place in person, scams targeting newcomers are rampant.

If you’re already using Airbnb/Hotels, verify the neighborhood via "Crime Mapping" sites. For long-term, use Zillow or Apartments.com. If you use Zillow or Apartments.com for listings. Cross-reference addresses on CrimeGrade.org or NeighborhoodScout to verify safety.
You should never wire money via Zelle/Wire before seeing a place. You can use a credit card for temporary stays to ensure fraud protection. Scams targeting newcomers are high.
