Scaling to $1M ARR
Hiring and systems
To hit $1M, you must stop being the "Chief Everything Officer." You need to hire for "Slope" (potential) over "Intercept" (past experience).
- For your first hires, look for students or recent grads who are hungry and learn fast. They don't need a 10-year resume; they need the "grit" to solve problems in a scrappy environment.
- You can Build Playbooks (SOPs). Every time you do a task twice, write down the steps. This allows you to delegate it to a hire. A $1M business is just a collection of working playbooks.
- If you can afford it, hire two people for the same role (like sales). This creates healthy competition and gives you a benchmark for what "good" looks like.
